Accuracy of Content

UrduCraft provides tools and educational content related to Urdu and Arabic calligraphy on an "as is" basis. While we strive for accuracy in our Unicode references, font information, and educational articles, calligraphy styles and naming conventions can vary by region, school of practice, and historical period. A style referred to as "Diwani" in one source might be described with slightly different characteristics in another, depending on which Ottoman-era tradition the source draws from. We aim to present commonly accepted descriptions, but we are not claiming definitive scholarly authority on calligraphic history.

Tool Output and Rendering Limitations

Our calligraphy tools rely on the user's device and browser to render fonts correctly. Rendering quality can vary across browsers, operating systems, and devices — particularly older Android browsers, which sometimes apply incomplete Arabic-script shaping. We test on current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, but cannot guarantee identical output across every possible configuration. If a generated image looks visually incorrect, this is most often a font-rendering limitation of your specific browser rather than an error in the underlying text.

Font Licensing

The fonts used in our tools — Noto Nastaliq Urdu, Noto Naskh Arabic, Scheherazade New, and Amiri — are open-source fonts distributed by Google Fonts under the SIL Open Font License (OFL). We do not own, modify, or claim authorship of these fonts; we simply load them via the standard Google Fonts API. The OFL generally permits both personal and commercial use, including bundling, modification, and redistribution, but we encourage anyone using output from our tools in a commercial product to review the OFL text directly rather than relying solely on our summary here.

Not Professional, Religious, or Linguistic Advice

Content on this site — including our Learn page and blog articles — is written for general education and practical design guidance. It is not a substitute for instruction from a qualified calligraphy teacher, advice from a religious scholar on matters involving Quranic or liturgical text, or consultation with a professional linguist on matters of formal Urdu or Arabic usage. For any use case where precision in religious or ceremonial text matters significantly, we recommend having the final text reviewed by someone qualified in that specific context.
